hey y'all - I'm may, and I'm so glad you're here.

before founding west of may, I spent the better part of a decade in retail - building community and training teams all over the southeastern united states. I love bringing people together, empowering and growing a team, and supporting folks in finding the best version of themselves through the intersection of community and self-expression. 

we landed in johnson city in 2025 when my husband began his graduate program at etsu & quickly realized that there was space and need here for me to do what I do best - thus began west of may, first through a series of local pop-ups, evolving into a brick and mortar shop (where the real magic happens). 

I went to a hair salon in nashville once with the slogan "come as you are, leave as you were created" - and I can't help but to borrow it. come to west of may as you are. I promise you'll leave feeling seen, supported, and hopefully with a few new pieces that make you feel a little more like your authentic self.
